Pastor Guy started a series of messages on Sunday called "What I Don't Like About Christians..." Here's a couple of quotes that I found thought provoking.
"Christians are hard to tolerate. I just don't know how Jesus does it." Bono
"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ." Gandhi
The whole premise throughout the series is that we need to close the gap between Jesus and Christians/Christianity. The closer we are to living this life the way Jesus did, the greater the potential for God's working in and through us.
Hypocritical, judgemental, better-than attitude, pushy and out of touch are a few of the adjectives used to describe us Christians. How sad--somehow I think we have put religion in front of having a relationship with Jesus. Religion will give us a bunch of do's and don'ts for ourselves, and unfortunately for those around us--having a relationship with Jesus by spending time with Him in His Word and through prayer will change us from the inside out so we can love others the way He did. The more time we spend with Him, the more we will be like Him, and the more people will be drawn to Him.
Anyways, I am asking God to show me where I am missing the boat...
